In a recent interview from 11:15 shared by Nigerian Television Authority, former Governor of Nasarawa State, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, highlighted what he described as significant improvements in financial allocations to states under the current administration.
Speaking on governance and economic reforms, Al-Makura stated that the current fiscal environment has provided more resources to subnational governments, enabling them to address developmental challenges more effectively. According to him, “The amount of money the President gives to states is six times more than it was two years ago, before he came on board.”
He explained that this increase in funding presents an opportunity for state governments to improve infrastructure, enhance security, and promote the welfare of citizens. However, he emphasized that the impact of such financial gains depends largely on how well state leaders manage and utilize the resources available to them.
Al-Makura further noted that beyond receiving increased allocations, leaders must focus on prudent spending and people-oriented policies that directly improve livelihoods. He urged governors to prioritize transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance to ensure that citizens feel the benefits of these financial changes.
