Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has made a revelation regarding her efforts to push a motion on Ajaokuta Steel Company in the Senate.
In an interview with Arise Television, she alleged that Senate President Godswill Akpabio suggested he could offer her “a great deal of opportunity” if she “took care of him and made him happy.”
At some point during the interview, she said that, “I left his office, and when I got home, I told my husband. I didn’t tell my husband what happened. I told my husband to please speak with the Senate President to allow my motion to scale through. I think I also spoke to the DSP leader and a number of senators that they should help me talk to Akpabio.
On the action that her husband took, she said that, “my husband had to take a trip to London because the Senate President then traveled to London. My husband pleaded with the Senate President to let me take the motion on Ajaokuta and that it is very important to me.”.
Citing the reason that Akpabio gave to her husband for not accepting her motion, Senator Natasha said that “the Senate President said that he did not take the motion because he was protecting me. Anyways, at the time the motion was taken, it was the deputy senate president that actually sat.
