Senator Ishaku Elisha Abbo, who previously represented Adamawa North Senatorial District before his election was overturned by the court, recently claimed in an interview that Senate President Godswill Akpabio had approached him for support during the Senate presidency race against Senator Yari and others.

Speaking during an interview (Between 5-7 minutes) on Arise Television, Abbo alleged that Akpabio personally visited his hotel room and pleaded with him to support his bid to become Senate President. However, Abbo said he refused to do so. And due to this, the Senate President removed him from the Senate and also withheld some of his entitlements.

He said, “I was removed on the 19th of October, my salary was not paid for that month on the orders of Akpabio. Let me tell you what Senate did. Now, there are 109 senators, five of us were removed and two left. Now, seven senators left the National Assembly.”

Further talking, he said, “Out of the seven senators who left, Akpabio sent their official cars to their houses except for one… Every senator that was removed from the Senate got their official vehicles leaving only one senator alone; Senator Abbo. Leaving me out of the 116 senators sworn into the National Assembly, because I challenged Akpabio, I was the only senator that he refused to give his car. That is the vindictiveness of somebody called Akpabio.
