According to a report by Arise News on Friday September 12, 2025, in a significant development, an Air Peace pilot, David Bernard, has publicly denied using drugs or alcohol, while simultaneously alleging irregularities in the medical testing process he was subjected to.

Bernard claims the results of a blood test were delayed for two weeks and that the testing was conducted at a facility he considers unaccredited.

The pilot’s statement comes amid what appears to be a dispute regarding his medical fitness.

According to Bernard, a more standard procedure should have been followed. “They could have simply done a breathalyser test on the spot,” he stated.

This method, common in aviation and law enforcement, provides immediate results for alcohol consumption.

Bernard has strongly refuted any claims of substance use. “I don’t drink nor do drugs,” he asserted, directly addressing the core of the issue. His primary concern, however, appears to be the handling of his blood sample.

“Blood sample results were brought back after 2 weeks,” a delay he suggests is unusual and potentially compromised the integrity of the results.

Furthermore, Bernard questioned the legitimacy of the medical institution where the test took place.

“The tests were done by a non-recognised aviation hospital,” he alleged, raising questions about whether the facility meets the strict standards and certifications required for such sensitive tests in the aviation industry.

As of the time of this report, Air Peace has not released a formal statement addressing the pilot’s allegations.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) mandates strict medical and substance-free standards for all flight crew to ensure passenger safety, making this a matter of significant concern within the aviation sector.
