Alhaji Garba Adamu Gumel, a former Director-General of the Nigerian Tourism Board and a former press attaché to Ahmadu Bello, has shared an incident about the late Premier of Northern Nigeria.

Speaking in an interview with Daily Trust TV, Gumel said that during a visit to Nasarawa Eggon, which was part of Plateau State at the time, Ahmadu Bello’s car unexpectedly caught fire. He disclosed that instead of reacting quickly and getting out of the vehicle, Ahmadu Bello remained seated, completely still.

Gumel said that despite the fire spreading from the bonnet, Ahmadu Bello did not make any move to escape. He said a security officer forcefully intervened and pulled him out of the burning vehicle.
