According to a report by Arise News, on Friday November 14, 2025, a Nigerian Army corporal has publicly accused senior military officers of sexual harassment and physical assault after she allegedly refused their sexual advances.
Corporal Marian Agumba, who claims to have served in the Nigerian Army for 13 years, made a passionate appeal to President Bola Tinubu and other federal government officials in a video now circulating on social media. In the emotional footage, she detailed allegations of harassment, brutality, and threats to her life.
Speaking directly to the camera, Corporal Agumba maintained her innocence and dedication to service. “I’m not a criminal, I have never been found wanting. Since I joined the Nigerian Army, I have been doing the work with my whole heart, because of the frustration of officer wanting to sleep with me and if Everytime the bring those I refuse, they’ll tag it arrogant. Because I refused to sleep with him, he did not only give order for them to assault me, and my 3year old boy. He did not stop there, he also charge me for assault, that I escape confinement where is that being done,” she stated.
The corporal further alleged that following her refusal of sexual advances, she and her three-year-old son were physically assaulted on the orders of a senior officer. She claimed she was subsequently charged with assault and escaping confinement.
According to her account, she was detained for seven days without food or water, and was denied access to her child during this period. She said she did not know her son’s whereabouts during the detention.
According to the report, the allegations raise serious questions about conduct and accountability within the Nigerian military.
