At least four women have shared their experiences of being victims of a notorious e-hailing cab driver, whom they accuse of repeatedly robbing female passengers and sexually assaulting them.

According to The Punch, the driver, who allegedly concealed his identity by using different names such as Femi, Benjamin, and Samuel, was reported to have targeted stranded female commuters, luring them into his vehicle.

Some of the victims who spoke to Sunday PUNCH revealed that Femi typically operated during the late hours of the night or in the early morning. They said he would lock the car doors, threatening them with weapons like a gun, knife, and even acid.

Sunday PUNCH learned that despite the complaints filed by several victims, the police had not yet taken any action on the matter.

A victim, who identified herself simply as Isi, shared her experience of encountering the suspect on January 26, 2024, when she booked an e-hailing cab from Ikeja City Mall to Berger. Isi explained that during the ride, the driver engaged her in conversation, initially talking about his wife. However, he soon began making advances towards her, which she rejected, citing that he was already married. In response, the driver allegedly pulled out a sharp dagger and slapped her three times.

Isi further described that after a while, the driver parked the car and ordered her to remove all her clothes. She claimed that he then began touching her inappropriately and asked if she was a prostitute. He allegedly told her that he was seeking revenge for something a sex worker had done to him. According to Isi, the driver threatened that if she did not comply with his demands, he would kill her, adding that her colleagues would find her body by the roadside the next morning.

“This was after he had strangled me to the point where I had felt my last breath leave my body. After robbing me of my iPhone 11 and 6, he told me to get down from the car naked, after which he zoomed off,” she said.

In the same month, two friends, Temi and Rachel, who had booked an e-hailing ride from Lagos Island to the Mainland, recounted how the suspect picked up an accomplice who assisted him in robbing them. They explained that the driver parked on the Third Mainland Bridge, brought out a gun and a knife, and then stole all their belongings, including their phones, wigs, and money, before abandoning them on the bridge. Temi added that when they reported the incident to the police, they were told the authorities would investigate, but they never received any further feedback.
