Kenneth Okonkwo has strongly criticised Joash Amupitan over the controversy surrounding a Court of Appeal ruling on the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

According to a report by Sun Nigeria on Friday, April 4, 2026, reacting after watching Amupitan’s interview on Arise TV, Okonkwo said he was disappointed by the INEC chairman’s handling of the situation. According to him, it was troubling that the head of the electoral body reportedly became aware of a court judgment involving INEC through social media instead of official legal channels.

Okonkwo argued that since INEC was directly involved in the case and had legal representation, the chairman should have been properly informed through formal communication. He described this as a sign of poor leadership and a lack of seriousness in handling important national responsibilities.

The actor-turned-politician also questioned Amupitan’s decision-making approach, suggesting that relying on information from social media could affect the quality and credibility of decisions made by the commission.

The criticism comes amid growing public attention on INEC’s role in political party matters and legal disputes. Observers say the situation highlights concerns about transparency, communication, and professionalism within the electoral body.

In his words, “After listening to Prof Joash Ojo Amupitan, the INEC Chairman of Nigeria, on Arise TV, Morning Show, on the 3 March 2026, at about 9:30 am, I have come to the inevitable conclusion that the INEC Chairman is not only the most incompetent INEC Chairman in Nigeria history, but he is an irresponsible, dishonest person.” Read_More…
