No fewer than five residents, among them two pregnant women, were abducted after armed bandits raided Maiwa Village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Saturday evening, according to report by DAILY TRUST on Monday March 30 2026.
A local witness who asked not to be named said the attackers struck at about 5:00 pm, arriving on seven motorcycles and overwhelming villagers gathered at the mosque.
The witness said the assailants found people sitting at the mosque and fired into the air, prompting him to run toward the police station.
He added that the police officers fled when two of the bandits pursued him on motorcycles.
The witness said after he escaped, the attackers went into houses and took the victims, then left the scene with the captives on motorcycles.
According to the witness, “They came and met us sitting at the mosque, before they shot in the air, I ran speedily towards the Police officers. After I escaped, they returned and went into houses and abducted the victims.” Read_More…
