A tragic event occurred in the Lugbe area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Saturday, where an angry mob dealt a brutal fate to two individuals suspected of being “one-chance” criminals. The PUNCH reported that these alleged offenders had been preying on unsuspecting victims and were caught after one of their victims was thrown out of a moving vehicle. In their rage for justice, the mob also set the criminals’ vehicle on fire.

Witnesses described how the situation intensified when the suspects attempted to discard a victim mid-journey. A commercial driver named Ahmed recounted the chaotic scene for reporters, explaining that the criminals had violently thrown a victim from their car, which prompted bystanders to react. In a bid to stop the suspects from fleeing, some people chased after them.

“What happened was that after a victim of one chance was thrown out of a moving vehicle, some people chased the vehicle and caught up with them after Dunamis church,” Ahmed reported.

He noted that three people were inside the vehicle when they were captured. One suspect managed to escape the mob, while the other two faced a violent confrontation. The crowd attacked them, resulting in one suspect dying almost immediately from his injuries, while the other was left in critical condition. However, later unverified reports indicated that he might not have survived either.

In the meantime, some bystanders took the injured victim—who had been thrown from the moving vehicle—to a nearby hospital for immediate medical care, though the severity of the victim’s injuries was still unknown at the time of reporting.

To obtain official information regarding the incident, reporters contacted Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command. She confirmed the inquiry but had not yet released an official statement by the time this report was filed.
