Ibrahim Bamidele Emokpaire, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who is the chairman and convener of the Progressives Solidarity for Asiwaju, during an interview with The Nation correspondent, spoke on a wide range of political issues affecting Nigeria.

During the interview, Emokpaire was told that Boss Mustapha, while he was speaking at a recent book launch, downplayed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s contributions to President Buhari’s victory in 2015. Responding to this, Emokpaire stated that Boss Mustapha was never a member of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) nor a genuine supporter of President Buhari. He accused Mustapha of merely trying to seek attention and stir mischief.

Further talking, he said, “Where was he at that time? I remember when I was in London, when the late President Buhari and President Tinubu would come to London to meet serious stakeholders before he was endorsed by the international bodies. Where was Boss Mustapha?”

He described Boss Mustapha as naive and in need of enlightenment on the realities of how political power is attained, particularly the role of support in helping someone become president. He emphasized that electoral victory is determined by the total number of votes gathered from across the country, and that this was clearly evident in how the late President Buhari won his election.

He pointed out that even in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Buhari was defeated by former President Jonathan, raising doubts about whatever calculation Mustapha was relying on. He criticised Mustapha’s remarks as reckless and unnecessary, turning what should have been a non-issue into a public controversy rooted in ingratitude.

He expressed confidence that the late President Buhari would be displeased by the comments made by Mustapha, especially at a formal occasion like a book launch.
