Omoyele Sowore, former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has shared an experience from a visit to late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola’s house after the annulment of the June 12 1993 presidential election. He stated that during this visit, Abiola attempted to give him money but he refused to accept it.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Pulse Nigeria, Sowore said his refusal to accept the money surprised Abiola who then escorted him out of the house. He said that Abiola told him he had never encountered anyone who rejected money when he offered it.

In Omoyele Sowore’s words: “Abiola tried to give me money and I rejected it, that was what made Abiola follow me with Baba Anthony Enahoro, he followed us just to escort us out of his compound. He told me that he had never met anybody he gave money who rejected it”
