Ene Obi, a Nigerian activist, recently voiced her concerns about the political crisis in Rivers State in an interview with Arise TV from 22.08. She questioned why Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is not respecting the current governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, even though he once insisted Fubara deserved respect.

Ene Obi raised concerns over decisions being made by Wike that seem to harm the people of Rivers. She spoke against reports suggesting that the FCT is building houses for judges, asking if it’s a way to influence the judges and control the outcome of future elections. Obi questioned if this move is meant to manipulate the judges so they favor certain political interests in the 2027 elections.

“Judges are public officials, and we should know if they are working for the people,” she emphasized. Obi expressed frustration that, instead of addressing the needs of people in Rivers State, politicians seem to be prioritizing personal gain.

She urged Wike to remember that Rivers State belongs to its people, not any single politician. She asked him to “reflect” and put the needs of the people first, as citizens, including women and children, are suffering from these political tensions.
