A Senator Representing Abia South Senatorial District, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has reacted to the claim that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike was not sacked by the President because the President needs votes from Rivers state in the 2027 election.

He stated that former governors lack the influence to deliver electoral votes, unlike incumbent governors. He illustrated his point by referencing his own situation, questioning how he, as a serving Senator, could possibly guarantee the delivery of the entire Abia state to the President. He argued that the 2027 election should not be the sole reason for the President to retain the FCT Minister.

He said in an interview with Arise TV from 19:38, “Former governors can’t deliver anything; those who deliver votes are the current governors. What people feel is that the time of former governors has passed. For example, take me; how can I claim to deliver the whole of Abia state to the President? It’s not possible. I may be able to deliver my senatorial district because I’m still a serving Senator, but I don’t think that should be the criteria for the President not to sack the FCT Minister.”
