In a recent interview from 16:40 on With Chude, on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, Peter Obi, the NDC presidential candidate for the 2027 election, explained why he decided to institute legal action against his former spokesperson, Kenneth Okonkwo. He said the lawsuit was intended to provide an opportunity for all claims and allegations to be properly examined.

Speaking during the interview, Obi stated, “Okonkwo said, ‘He has so many hidden things that, if he is provoked or sued, he will bring them out.'” He made the remark while responding to questions about the legal dispute between himself and the actor-turned-politician.

According to Obi, he welcomed the opportunity for any information allegedly being withheld to be presented openly in court. He argued that Nigerians deserve to know the background of individuals seeking public office before they are entrusted with leadership responsibilities.

Obi maintained that transparency should be a fundamental principle in politics, adding that if there were any credible evidence questioning his integrity or suitability for public office, it should be brought before the public through the appropriate legal process.
