The former governor of Anambra state has reacted after he was criticized for wishing former military Head of State, Yakubu Gowon on his birthday.
His reaction was contained in a post that he titled, “Why I congratulated Yakubu Gowon at 90” on his official X handle.
In the post that Peter Obi shared on his page, he said In all his dealings with human beings, he tries to be guided by his faith as a Christian.
The former governor of Anambra state said forgiveness usually sets people free but hate will hold someone down.
Here is what Peter Obi wrote on his official X handle;
“Must you greet him? Why didn’t you keep quiet?’ some angrily say to me, but that will still be injurious to our journey to a new Nigeria where all political vices, including but not limited to ethnic, religious, bitterness, and regional segregation, are eliminated. Various personal experiences of victims of injustice across the globe who have chosen to put ugly things behind them visibly demonstrate the transformative power of forgiveness in healing personal and collective wounds”.
