The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero has stated that they insisted on N250,000 when negotiating minimum wage with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

This statement was contained in a report that was published by DAILY POST on Saturday.

The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress was speaking about why they agreed to take the sum of N70K as minimum wage when he made the comment.

Joe Ajaero said during the negotiation at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, they insisted on N250k but President Bola Ahmed Tinubu turned to him and said the price of fuel would be increased If he’s to pay the amount.

He was quoted as saying that;

“We insisted on N250,000 and Mr President at the meeting, turned to me and said, ‘Ajaero, you are the person holding my hand from increasing further’.

“And I said increase what? The president said, ‘Since I said the subsidy is gone, we should have gotten the appropriate price. We should have increased”.
