Federal lawmaker and constitutional expert Imo Ugochinyere criticized Nyesom Wike’s recent television comments, expressing confusion over why Wike was “whining and crying.” Ugochinyere suggested that Wike’s remarks implied he may have been fully aware of, or even involved in, the treasonous actions aimed at destroying a branch of government.

He commended the Rivers State government for setting up a judicial panel of inquiry to investigate the matter, stating that if Wike was involved, he should face prosecution and be declared wanted. Ugochinyere added that under the criminal justice law, any citizen or group would have the right to arrest Wike if he enters Rivers State.

He said in a live coverage by Symfoni from 0:01, “All these explanations on TV by Wike, I don’t understand why he’s whining and crying. The only thing I will advise him is that there’s no way he would escape the involvement of his supporters, which I’m beginning to believe from his TV comments that he was fully aware and might have also been part of it. So that’s why I commend the state government for setting up a judicial panel of inquiry.

It doesn’t matter who you are. If indeed he was involved in this treasonous act—this act of treason to destroy another arm of government and burn it to the ground—then he should be charged, he should be prosecuted, and he should be declared wanted. If he enters Rivers, any citizen, any group of people have the right to confront him and arrest him, going by the provisions of the criminal justice law.”
