Theophilus Alaye, President of the Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide, has expressed his disapproval over a recent event where certain individuals claimed to represent the Ijaw people in apologizing to Nyesom Wike on behalf of Governor Sim Fubara.

In a live coverage by Channels TV from 4:18, Alaye said that the gathering lacked the presence of recognized Ijaw traditional rulers, such as first-class and second-class kings from any Ijaw clan. He said none of these respected figures were part of the event, yet it was being portrayed as an official apology from the Ijaw community.

Alaye said the people who attended the event were mainly those who had benefited from Wike’s political influence.

In Alaye’s words: “They said it is the Ijaw people that are apologizing to the FCT minister Wike on behalf of a living governor (Fubara) and you did not see any of the first-class chief from any of the Ijaw clan and you didn’t see any of the second-class king from any of the Ijaw clan. You allowed people who have benefited from you, your political children, to come and gather and bring our cultural groups that they hired from places and you said that is Ijaw nation that gathered. It is extremely laughable”
