The Elders Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a formal apology to Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister, regarding the ongoing conflict with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
According to Channels Television, the apology was made during a gathering of the Rivers State Ijaw Peoples Congress held in Wike’s honor on September 28, 2024.
Boma Iyaye, Executive Director of Finance at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), conveyed the sentiments of the Ijaw community, stating, “We are sorry for what our son is doing to you. It is not in our nature to pay evil for good.”
He urged Wike to maintain his connection with the Ijaw people, emphasizing their gratitude for his past contributions.
Ferdinard Anabraba, Chairman of the Elders Forum in Rivers State, expressed that the current situation in the state does not reflect the views of the Ijaw nationality.
He called the behavior of Fubara an “aberration” and praised Wike as a significant political figure, asserting, “We the Ijaw see you as the light of Rivers State.”
