Diran Odeyemi, a member of the PDP, has spoken about the internal crisis within the party, particularly the tension between Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara and Nyesom Wike, the current FCT Minister.

In a live coverage by TV360 Nigeria from 5:03, Odeyemi said the PDP is currently divided into two factions. He said one faction is loyal to Wike and the other is loyal to Atiku Abubakar. He likened Governor Fubara to a chess piece being used to demonstrate the party’s division. He also said that some governors within the PDP are strongly behind Wike.

In Odeyemi’s words: The PDP is sharply divided between Wike and Atiku. Fubara is just like a play chess, he is somebody that is being used at the moment to showcase to the world that PDP is divided. You can see it plainly that some governors are on the side of Wike and my argument is how do you fight somebody who is aggrieved?”
