In a recent video discussion on News Central TV from 05:49, Dele Farotimi offered a critical perspective on Nigeria’s political landscape, particularly focusing on the leadership of former presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari.

Farotimi pointed out that the shortcomings of Jonathan’s presidency created a vacuum that paved the way for Buhari’s return to power. He suggested that Jonathan’s failure to lead effectively left the country vulnerable to electing a leader who, in Farotimi’s view, lacked the qualifications and innovation necessary to move the nation forward.

While focusing on Buhari’s agricultural policies, Farotimi criticized the lack of growth and innovation in Buhari’s personal farming ventures, despite receiving significant government subsidies. This, he argued, symbolized a broader failure in leadership, where opportunities for progress were not fully seized.Farotimi expressed disappointment that such an image was embraced, despite what he viewed as clear evidence to the contrary.

In his remarks, “If Jonathan had been an effective president we wouldn’t have been in a situation where a man (Muhammadu Buhari) who left office as president and came back after 30 years without even having the capacity to get a school certificate.”
