According to Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, Israel will not rest until it has completely restored the security of its northern communities, and he has made it clear that military operations will continue until Hezbollah is eliminated.
In a statement that was uploaded on his verified Twitter account, Gallant stressed that Hezbollah’s stronghold in Dahieh, Beirut, is not immune to Israel’s military operations. In the midst of rising tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, the militant group based in southern Lebanon that receives backing from Iran, Gallant makes a daring announcement.
“Our enemies have no place of refuge – not even the Dahieh in Beirut,” Gallant declared, indicating Israel’s resolve to maintain military operations outside its boundaries in order to protect its civilians. The escalating threats and provocations by Hezbollah along the Israeli-Lebanese border have prompted Israel to step up its military operations in the northern region.
According to Gallant, the goal of these operations is to get the people living in Israel’s northern regions back to their homes safely, because many of them have been displaced because of the war. “We will continue operating against Hezbollah until we achieve our mission: ensuring the safe return of Israel’s northern communities to their homes,” Gallant added, reiterating the steadfast stance of the Israeli government on the matter.
His comments highlight Israel’s commitment to the long-term security of its citizens, especially those residing in the defenseless northern areas bordering Lebanon. In an effort to weaken Hezbollah’s military and prevent it from attacking again, Israel has stepped up its military operations against the group.
