The political climate has heated up following strong criticism of former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike by a prominent elder. Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe, the National Coordinator of the South-South Elders Forum, expressed his disapproval of Wike’s recent behavior in a video posted on Symfoni TV FROM 02:05.
Sara-Igbe took aim at Wike’s treatment of Ada George, a respected political figure in Rivers State. “For Wike to insult Ada George who he went to begged to be counsellor, because he has become a governor, he thinks he is more than everybody, and he can talk to anybody,” Sara-Igbe stated, highlighting what he sees as Wike’s arrogance and disrespect towards his former mentor.
The elder statesman also raised concerns about Wike’s alleged threats to other state governors. “For Wike to say he going to put fire in States Governors states where the Governors supports the right thing,” Sara-Igbe said, suggesting that Wike’s words were inflammatory and inappropriate.
Sara-Igbe then pointed to recent events in Rivers State as evidence of Wike’s destabilizing influence. “He has already started putting fire in Rivers State, the recent IYC election is a testimony to what kind of fire Wike make,” he asserted. The elder accused Wike of attempting to manipulate the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) elections for his own benefit, stating, “Because he wanted trouble he tried as much as possible to orchestrate cult war in the election, common IYC election, just because he wants to take over IYC.”
These allegations paint a picture of a politician who, according to Sara-Igbe, is willing to incite violence and discord to maintain his influence. The elder’s comments highlight the ongoing tensions in Niger Delta politics and raise questions about the conduct of high-profile political figures in the region.
