Dr. Pedro Obaseki, the Deputy Director General of the Asue/Ogie People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Edo 2024 Campaign Management Council, elaborated on the notable achievements of the Edo State government over the last eight years, particularly in the area of civil service welfare.

He stressed that the state has consistently paid its civil servants on time, with salaries being disbursed on the 26th of every month without fail. He emphasized that Edo is the only government in Southern Nigeria that has not accumulated any salary arrears, reinforcing that this accomplishment is a testament to the state’s commitment to its workers. He criticized members of the opposition, particularly the All Progressives Congress (APC), for spreading misinformation about the state’s governance, suggesting that they underestimate the awareness and access to information of Edo’s people.

He countered claims that Edo is disconnected or lagging behind in technological access by pointing out that he was able to join the program in high definition from Benin City. He stated that Edo enjoys 18 hours of electricity daily, thanks to a successful public-private partnership for power generation. He further stated that the state’s strategic importance as it sits at the crossroads of Nigeria’s gas pipeline network, reinforcing the region’s economic and infrastructural strengths. According to Obaseki, these accomplishments demonstrate the state government’s proactive governance, in contrast to the narratives presented by its critics..

He said in an interview with TVC from 2:16, “In the last 8 years, call Edo person, our civil servants are being paid their salary every 26th of the month. That is what we do here to stop the edo state government is the only government in Southern Nigeria that does not owe a single strand of Kobo in salary and that is the truth. So we cannot now come and be listening to the lies of people (APC) who believe Edo state people don’t have internet
