The Spokesperson of the NLC, Benson Upah has strongly condemned the arrest of Joe Ajaero at the airport by the DSS, describing it as an act of repression and state terror. He argued that this behavior is not characteristic of a democratic government and that even the military in the past did not behave in this manner.
He suggested that there is a powerful force or clique behind Ajaero’s arrest working to achieve a specific purpose. He also disputes the claims that this recent arrest is linked to the allegations of criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, and treasonable felony. He argued that the person or group coordinating this act should provide answers for the unlawful arrest as he implied that there may be ulterior motives behind it.
He said in an interview with AIT From Minute 24:15, ”The arrest of Joe Ajaero at the airport is a repression under the guise of democracy but you can’t call this a democracy. Even the military weren’t behaving like this, this is an act of state terror. And if you look and listen carefully to something that is happening in the news right now, there is a powerful force behind all of this. A groups of people are working towards achieving a specific purpose.
And we should locate this clique and tell them to go to hell. They are never going to break the Nigerian spirit in us. The Nigerian people are very very diligent. We are in a strong position to tell Nigerians that this Ajaero’s recent arrest has nothing to do with criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing or treasonable felony as the police had initially claimed. Only the person co-ordinating this act should be able to give us the answer for this unlawful arrest on Ajaero.”….View–Next
