The former Director-General of Obi-Datti Campaign Council, Doyin Okupe has reacted after the Council Of State passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Doyin Okupe stated on his verified Twitter page on Wednesday; “The Council of states meeting is a constitutional meeting of past leaders and current leaders presided over by the current President. It is basically a forum where the current leadership presents its scorecard and challenges privately to the former leaders, whose roles are basically Advisory.”
He added; “Past President’s and leaders are not expected to be partisan or portray any form of activism. So when people talk about ” talking truth to power” it must be understood that in the comity of such elders , radicalism has no place.”
He noted; “I have had the privilege of attending several council of states meetings in the past in observer status as a presidential aide. Candid and frank discussions on issues do take place under a very matured atmosphere. Never confrontational or derogatory to the presiding officer, out of share respect for that exalted office , which they themselves previously occupied.”
He noted; “Those who quarrel with the vote of confidence passed on President Tinubu’s leadership after the council of state meeting, completely misunderstood the role of elders in society. ”
