The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has delivered a strongly worded address at a Rainbow Coalition event in Rivers State, outlining his political stance and dismissing opposition criticisms, as aired from 4:40 on NTA Network News on Saturday, May 30, 2026.

Wike used the platform to reject allegations and describe his political camp as resilient, insisting they remain unfazed by opponents’ claims and strategies. He also warned against what he termed misrepresentation by political actors and their allies.

In his remarks, he said: “If you are a mafia messenger, go to where you message. There are no mafias here. We are not mafias.” He further added: “So you cannot be our messenger. These are people, when you see them on national television, the next day they call you and say forget that one I dey talk for television. You are still my friend. I don’t get talked down to. Many talk to me don’t talk to.”

Wike continued by questioning the credibility and character of some political actors, stating: “That’s not the kind of characters you should bother yourself. Look at the faces of it. These are people who have tested politics, either by contesting or by sponsoring people. Look at the faces here. Look at the faces here.”

He also suggested that his political camp had withstood pressure and remained stable despite expectations of collapse: “So people are angry. They thought we would have collapsed. We are here. No shooting of gun. No burning of houses. Because we shocked them. They didn’t know where we were coming from. If they knew, they would have been laughing at us.”

Wike went on to describe what he called a shift in political strategy ahead of upcoming elections: “We told them we would deal with them. Let me tell you, the style of politics this time, the kind of campaign we will run, it has never happened in this country. I will not tell them, but they will be shocked.”
