In a recent post by Daily Post on Saturday May 30th 2026, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has issued a strong warning to state governors, advising them to stay away from the political affairs of Rivers State or risk consequences.
Wike made the remarks during a political gathering in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, where members of a coalition involving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) were in attendance.

He recalled previous political confrontations in the state and insisted that similar attempts by outsiders to influence local politics had always resulted in challenges for those involved. According to him, Rivers State should be respected as a politically sensitive region with its own internal dynamics.
Wike further suggested that while other states may be experiencing political disagreements within their parties, Rivers State remains relatively stable and focused, urging political actors from outside the state to avoid actions that could destabilise it.
He maintained that the state has benefited from federal attention and development support, warning that any attempt to disrupt its political balance would be resisted by stakeholders within the state.
The minister emphasised that political peace in Rivers State should not be taken for granted, adding that those who attempt to interfere in its internal affairs should be prepared for resistance.
His comments come amid ongoing political tensions in Rivers State involving factions of the PDP and APC, as well as alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections….Read_More…
