A Former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo has alleged that the failure to scrutinize the track records of those in leadership positions is a fundamental problem in Nigeria today.

He stressed the necessity of choosing leaders who are not only competent but also serve as positive role models for the community. He proposed that by reexamining and refining the methods of leader selection, society could begin to address its issues more effectively.

He said in an interview with Channels TV from 11:48, ”In my own part of the world, even when you want to give a daughter for marriage, you say hey look at the background. And that is one thing we need to really think about. The problem we have is that we do not select our leaders based on their track record. We need to know if they are good role models to our people. Maybe if we look at the criteria of picking our leader and the way of doing it, we will start getting things right.”….Seê  Morê
