According to Al Jazeera Hanan Ashrawi, a prominent Palestinian political leader and former member of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee, has condemned Israel’s recent actions, accusing the country of using “gangster style assassination and extrajudicial executions” to deliberately “inflame the whole region.”
In a series of social media posts, Ashrawi criticized the killings of Hamas’s political chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and Hezbollah military commander Fuad Shukr in Beirut, Lebanon.
She argued that these assassinations were carried out to “sabotage any chances” of a ceasefire deal in Gaza and to prevent regional de-escalation.
“These are attacks not just on the capitals of sovereign states but also on significant leaders to ensure total provocation [and] destabilisation,” Ashrawi wrote. She further stated, “Israel is a rogue state that represents a real [and] present danger globally.”
Ashrawi’s remarks come amid escalating tensions following the killings, which have drawn widespread condemnation and raised fears of further violence in an already volatile region.
The international community is increasingly concerned about the implications of these actions, as calls for accountability and restraint grow louder….Sêe_Morē
