Mosab Hassan Yousef, a prominent critic of Hamas and the son of a Hamas co-founder, has issued a strong statement on his verified Twitter account amid the recent deployment of 12 U.S. warships to the Middle East.
In his tweet, Yousef wrote: “The U.S. deploys 12 warships to the Middle East. The time has come to end the Islamic Republic and all its proxies.”
The U.S. has deployed at least 12 warships to the region, including the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, amphibious assault teams, and over 4,000 Marines and sailors, in response to escalating tensions following the assassinations of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and Hezbollah military chief Fuad Shukr.
The move comes as U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken urges “all parties” to cease escalating actions, a message interpreted as directed toward Israel following the killings of Shukr and Haniyeh.
