In a conversation with Politics Today on Channels Television, PDP member Segun Sowunmi chastised President Tinubu for his perceived lack of response to the Rivers State situation, which he claimed was brought on by former Governor Nyesom Wike.
Sowunmi voiced his displeasure at leaders who have justified Wike’s actions and tolerated his harshness. Using Atiku Abubakar as an example, he said that in 2002, he made sure that former Governor Mbadinuju was held accountable for shutting Anambra State schools.
Sowunmi contended that a real leader must exhibit patriotism and establish norms for appropriate conduct.
According to him, patriotism is the yardstick by which you may determine whether or not a certain kind of behavior is acceptable in one place or another. Sowunmi highlighted the issues they have even created.
Citing Rivers State as an example, Sowunmi said, “What kind of national leader would tolerate the kind of nonsense that Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister, is doing in Rivers? Who would tolerate that?”
“I can tell you why Atiku will never tolerate it. In 2002 or thereabout, Mbadinuju was governor under the PDP, and schools were closed.”
“He came back livid and ensured that Mbadinuju never got anything close to government again. Why?”
“Because a leader has to carry a certain level of patriotism, and that patriotism is the scale that tells you this type of behavior will not go here; it will not be accepted here.”….Sêe_Morē
