Retired General Jack Keane has called for tougher pressure on Iran around the Strait of Hormuz, warning that Tehran could be using the current ceasefire period to strengthen its missile program and military position.

Speaking during an interview from 5:40 aired by Fox News, Keane argued that Iran’s leadership remains unwilling to change its behavior despite rising regional tensions and recent military exchanges involving the United States and its allies.

He said, “They are not reasonable. They don’t care about their people. We can hold Kharg Island hostage. If you are going to attack Qatar’s natural gas or Saudi oil fields, we will take Kharg Island away in terms of physical destruction.”

Keane’s remarks focused on the strategic importance of Kharg Island, which serves as a major hub for Iran’s oil exports. He suggested that targeting the island could become part of a broader deterrence strategy if Iran threatens energy infrastructure in Gulf nations such as Qatar or Saudi Arabia.

The retired general also expressed concern that Iran may be using the ceasefire to regroup militarily rather than pursue long-term stability in the region.
