Public Affairs Analyst, Dele Fanimo has condemned the killing of Nigeria’s first female combat helicopter pilot, Flying Officer Tolulope Arotile, describing it as an unnecessary loss given her stellar performance in the fight against insurgency.

Speaking in an interview from 13:20 on Voice of the People TV, Fanimo highlighted Arotile’s unwavering commitment and precision in her missions.

“The lady was hitting hard on them. Throughout her mission, she never missed her target,” Fanimo said, referring to Arotile’s operational record against insurgents in volatile regions. He stressed that her efforts had significantly contributed to the Nigerian Air Force’s successes in curbing terrorist activities, yet her life was tragically cut short.

Fanimo lamented the seeming disregard for the dedication and sacrifices of military personnel like Arotile, noting that such incidents risk demoralizing other young officers aspiring to serve their country. “Throughout her mission, she never missed her target and yet, they killed her for no reason,” he added, underscoring the senselessness of her death.

He further called on authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding Arotile’s death and ensure justice is served, arguing that honoring her legacy should include accountability for those responsible. According to Fanimo, recognizing the contributions of personnel like Arotile is crucial not only for morale but also for the continued effectiveness of Nigeria’s security operations. View, More,
