The President of Save Nigeria Group, USA, Stephen Osemwegie, has disclosed that members of the United States Congress told his delegation that President Donald Trump is prepared to take strong action regarding the ongoing killings of Christians in Nigeria but is currently being restrained by congressional protocol.

Osemwegie, who appeared from 51:10 on Channels Television to discuss his group’s visit to Capitol Hill, said they travelled to the U.S. Congress to present detailed accounts of violence affecting Christian communities across several Nigerian states. Their mission included submitting reports, survivor testimonies, and petitions calling for firmer international engagement.

According to him, U.S. lawmakers made it clear that President Trump views the situation in Nigeria with urgency. “As a matter of fact Congress is the one holding him back because he wants to follow the American system, but he is serious,” Osemwegie stated, quoting the message delivered to the delegation.

He explained that the group met with congressional staffers and members who assured them that the U.S. government is monitoring developments closely. The lawmakers, he said, stressed that while the American president wants to respond decisively, constitutional processes and congressional oversight determine the pace and nature of U.S. foreign action.

Osemwegie noted that the feedback reflects growing concern in Washington about the rising insecurity in Nigeria and what he described as the vulnerability of Christian communities exposed to repeated attacks. He said the Save Nigeria Group is committed to presenting accurate documentation of incidents to ensure that U.S. officials receive timely information. View, More,
