Popular Nigerian singer Sola Allyson has called for calm and unity among Nigerians over religious differences.
Speaking in an interview from 51:01 with Oyinmomo TV on Friday, December 5, 2025, she emphasized that the debate between Christianity and Islam in Nigeria is often overstated and misses the bigger picture of shared faith in one God.
Allyson recounted her experiences traveling to countries like Egypt and Jordan, where she observed that Christians often refer to God as Allah, highlighting that religious labels should not create division.
She stressed that humans are fundamentally the same, pointing out that differences in religious practice do not alter the fact that all people are created in the image of one Creator.
According to her, the essence of faith is not rooted in arguments over terminology but in living a life aligned with the moral and ethical principles taught by God.
The singer urged Nigerians to recognize that once life ends, religious distinctions lose significance, and what remains is the image and character of the individual. She encouraged a focus on shared values, respect, and understanding across religious lines, reminding the public that over 400 religions exist globally, yet they all trace back to the same divine source.
Her words: “We Christians in Nigeria, like me, usually argue about religion. They say God is not Allah and Allah is not God. But it’s not true. When I travelled to Egypt and Jordan, Christians in these countries usually refer to God as Allah. I believe that we only have one God. We should stop arguing about religion. Once we die, our religion becomes unimportant because it’s our image that remains. We are created the same way, one head, one nose, and it means the same God created all of us. There are over 400 religions in the world, but it’s the same God we serve.” View, More,
