Niger Delta activist and former militant leader, Asari Dokubo has weighed in on the ongoing debates surrounding allegations of religious tensions in the country, cautioning against attempts to link President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to any form of religious crisis.
In a Facebook post from 2:30, Dokubo issued a firm rebuttal to claims suggesting the president harbours religious motives in the handling of national security issues.
In the post, he stated, “I’m not Tinubu’s lawyer, I’m not his advocate. But when you look at Tinubu now, do you think Tinubu will have anything to do with religious crisis?” Dokubo argued that attempts to drag Tinubu into religious controversies are unnecessary and harmful to national cohesion.
According to him, those pushing such narratives are intentionally distorting the situation for political advantage. He stressed that Tinubu’s track record, both as a former Lagos State governor and as president shows no inclination towards religious discrimination or sectarian politics. Dokubo insisted that Nigeria’s complex security challenges should not be reframed as religious warfare, warning that doing so only heightens tensions. View, More,
