A representative of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has claimed that Fulani pastoralists communities in Kebbi State have faced severe hardship in recent weeks.
Speaking during an interview from 4:25 on Channels Television on Thursday, December 4, 2025, he linked the situation to recent comments reportedly made by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who, according to him, spoke about the idea of invading Nigeria to confront terrorism.
The spokesperson argued that Trump’s remarks triggered fear, tension, and what he described as targeted hostility against Fulani groups in parts of the country. He insisted that rather than focusing on the complex realities behind insecurity, many individuals have used the comments as justification to intensify their criticism of pastoralists communities. He emphasized that this shift in sentiment has had real and damaging consequences for Fulani families in the affected areas.
While discussing the issue, he made a strong claim that the Fulani people not any other group are the ones experiencing conditions most comparable to genocide. In his words, “But I want to state again, that if there is anything close to a genocide in Nigeria, it’s genocide against the Fulanis. Since Donald Trump made that proclamation in the last three weeks, Fulanis have been devastated in Kebbi State.”
He noted that this alleged devastation ranges from displacement to heightened insecurity, stressing that the situation demands serious attention rather than political or emotional reactions.
