A Former Federal Lawmaker, Senator Garba Marafa, has alleged that Muslim presidents in other countries should defend Muslims being killed in Northern Nigeria by terrorists, just as President Donald Trump has spoken out for Christians killed by terrorists in Plateau and Benue states.

In an interview with Channels TV from 3:35, Senator Marafa expressed support for President Trump’s intervention despite differing from most Nigerians on the issue. “I share a different view from most Nigerians about these comments made by the United States. I strongly support President Donald Trump, for issuing that—I don’t want to call it a threat, but it is more like a threat. I differ with a lot of Nigerians because most Nigerians look at it from the perspective of patriotism, sovereignty of the country, which I agree with and I subscribe to. But of what importance is sovereignty or patriotism to a dead man?” he said.

So the fact that there is no Muslim or Muslim country or Muslim president that can speak for the Muslims does not stop a Christian president of a Christian country from speaking for his people or the Christian community,” he stated.

Senator Marafa acknowledged that Christians killed in northern Nigeria are fellow citizens deserving protection and that any intervention benefiting them represents progress.
