According to a report by Daily Post, on Wednesday December 3, 2025, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has asked Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo, a regional leader of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), to wait until 2027 if he wants to become Nigeria’s vice president.

Professor Ishaq Akintola, the founder of MURIC, made the statement after Dachomo claimed there is a Christian genocide in Nigeria.

Dachomo said this because both President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima are Muslims.

MURIC described Dachomo’s claim as extreme and exaggerated.

The group said his comments are “hyperbolic” and called them emotive and explosive.

According to MURIC, such statements undermine democracy and the results of the 2023 elections.

The organisation questioned how anyone could suggest removing a vice president who was elected through a free and fair process.

MURIC said Dachomo should follow democratic rules and wait for the next election in 2027 if he wants to contest the position.

MURIC accused Dachomo of dramatising the issue of a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

The group said he turns political matters into sensational stories, creating unnecessary fear about Christian genocide.

The group reminded the public of the 2018 case of Major-General Mohammed Idris Alkali.

They said some people used false claims to push political agendas.

MURIC suggested that the recent noise about Christian genocide is more about political power than religion.

“How can anyone suggest the removal of the vice president who emerged from a free, fair and credible election? If Dachomo wants to be the vice president of Nigeria, he must follow the well-known democratic process. He must wait for 2027,” he said. View, More,
