The Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin has clarified that there is no policeman that is currently on VIP duty.
This statement came after it was reported that despite President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s order, some officers of the Nigeria Police Force are still performing VIP duties.
In the video that Channels TV presenter, Seun Okinbaloye shared on his official X account on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, Benjamin Hundeyin stated that it is not true that the officers are still escorting VIPs.
He said as soon as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu gave the order, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun withdrew all the officers.
Benjamin Hundeyin stated that most of the recent videos and pictures portraying that officers are still performing VIP duties are either old or fake.
He said the public should disregard those pictures and videos.
Seun Okinbaloye wrote on his official X account;
“No police officer is on VIP duty at the moment, the videos you’re seeing online now are old videos that mischief makers are bringing up for misinformation purposes. We urge Nigerians to stay away from fake news”. View, More,
