According to report by Vanguard on Monday, December 1, 2025, former presidential aide Lauretta Onochie has again criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, accusing the presidency of marginalisation, nepotism and betrayal of loyalists who supported former President Muhammadu Buhari.
In her second open letter in three months to her late former boss, Onochie lamented what she described as the deteriorating state of the country under Tinubu.
Onochie, who served Buhari as Special Assistant on Digital and Social Media and later as NDDC Chairperson, condemned the newly released ambassadorial list, alleging it was skewed in favour of the South-West.
Posting on her X account, she labelled the selection “nepotism at its peak,” highlighting the uneven distribution of nominees: South-South (3), North-West (5), North-Central (5), North-East (5), South-East (6), and South-West (11).
She argued that Tinubu had excessively favoured his region while ignoring fairness and national balance.
She further accused the presidency of rewarding individuals who allegedly opposed Buhari’s administration, arguing that true loyalists were being sidelined.
According to her, Tinubu was compensating those who undermined the APC during Buhari’s tenure.
In another emotional message addressed to Buhari, Onochie claimed many Nigerians now openly express that they “miss Buhari,” citing deepening hunger, insecurity and economic distress.
Although acknowledging that Buhari’s government had flaws, she praised his discipline, modest lifestyle, honesty about his health and efforts at national unity.
She added that she joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to help “rescue” the country ahead of 2027.
Onochie admitted that Buhari loyalists helped Tinubu come to power, but insisted they were now united in seeking to remove him in the next election.
She had earlier accused Tinubu of turning the APC into a personal business where fairness and accountability had collapsed. Her latest remarks underscore growing internal cracks within the ruling party as political tensions heighten toward 2027. View, More,
