In a recent video on Facebook from 26:31, Primate Elijah Ayodele has criticized Nigerian senators and the First Lady over what he described as an inappropriate display of comfort at a time when the nation is grappling with economic hardship and insecurity. Speaking during a live prophetic session, the cleric condemned the decision to host senators for a social gathering instead of prioritizing national healing and urgent interventions.
Ayodele did not mince words as he addressed the matter. “Nigerian senators, this is not proper,” he declared. “It’s not proper. This is not the time to dine now and whine.” According to him, the current state of the nation demands sobriety rather than celebration.
He directed strong criticism at the First Lady, suggesting that the timing of such engagements sends the wrong message to struggling citizens. “The wife of the president—well, you may not like what I’m saying, but this is the reality and this is the truth,” he stated.
Ayodele argued that the country is facing compounding crises that should command the attention of government officials. “We see that the economy… we see that insecurity is causing a lot of problems,” he warned, noting that many Nigerians are experiencing severe economic pressure while security challenges persist across states.
The cleric questioned the purpose behind summoning senators for social engagements. “When you are calling for the senator to come and dine with you, what do you really want to call this?” he asked rhetorically, implying that such actions undermine the seriousness of the nation’s current reality.
Instead, Ayodele advised that the presidency and lawmakers should turn to spiritual intervention. “This is when you’re supposed to organize prayers, declare fasting for the nation,” he said, emphasizing that leadership must demonstrate moral responsibility during trying times. View, More,
