Parents of students abducted from Saint Mary Catholic Primary and Secondary School have staged a protest at the school premises on Sunday, demanding the immediate release of their children following the kidnapping of over 200 pupils.
The school’s principal, Felicia Gyam, has revealed that staff heard an unidentified helicopter hovering over the compound during the abduction.
Speaking during an interview with AIT from 3:00, Mrs. Gyam described the terrifying events of the attack. “We heard bangings on our gates and the children wailing, crying, and we heard voices saying in Hausa that we should pack the children and get money. We were there until after, maybe around 4, we heard a helicopter hovering around, and we were not sure who was in the helicopter. So it hovered for some minutes. I’m not sure it was up to 30 minutes. It just hovered around, and at a certain point we didn’t hear it again,” she said.
The principal clarified that the helicopter appeared again after the bandits had already driven away with the abducted students. Gyam noted that staff members heard sounds of multiple vehicles and motorcycles during the kidnapping but could not determine exact numbers due to the overwhelming noise. View, More,
