Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has reacted to the decision of US President Donald Trump to stop Nigerians and citizens of other third-world countries from relocating to the United States.

Sani made his position known on his X handle, sparking new debate over migration, national responsibility, and the future of young Nigerians seeking opportunities abroad.

In his reaction, Sani described the policy shift as both expected and ultimately beneficial, insisting that it should challenge Nigerians to confront the realities within their own borders rather than rely on migration as an escape.

He stated: “President Trump decision to stop Nigerians and citizens of other third World countries from relocating to the US is a welcome development. The immigrants should stay back in their country and solve their problems or learn to live with it. Better to stay back than to be chased, hunted and deported by ICE.”

According to him, a country cannot progress if its most skilled and ambitious citizens consistently seek refuge elsewhere.
