Bayo Onanuga, the senior special adviser on Information and Strategy has taken to his official X handle to react after President Tinubu was captured in virtual meeting with ECOWAS leaders over the recent military takeover in Guinea Bissau. According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, he disclosed that the ECOWAS leaders deliberated on the ongoing situation in Guinea Bissau.
The recent military takeover that occurred in Guinea Bissau, a prominent member of the Economic Community of West African States generated mixed reactions after the reports went viral across various social media platforms.
The military, highly unimpressed by President Umaro Embolo’s government, staged a coup and took over the helms of affairs. The president was subsequently flown out of the country without any casualty recorded.
However, the coup which came after several other West African States had been taken over by the military, stirred deep concerns within ECOWAS as an urgent virtual meeting which was attended by top West African leaders was held.
