Former Governor of Edo State and current Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Adams Oshiomhole, has sharply criticized former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, labeling him a “smuggler” who allegedly took advantage of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
During a revealing and highly sensitive interview from 1:28 with Channels Television, Oshiomhole intensified the long-standing rift between him and Amaechi. He claimed that Amaechi used his closeness to Buhari during his administration to obtain documents and approvals that Buhari “may not have fully understood,” alleging that the former President was misled into signing certain papers.
Speaking further, Oshiomhole dismissed the popular belief that Amaechi played a major role in Buhari’s 2015 election victory. According to him, despite Amaechi serving as Director-General of the Buhari Campaign Organization, he did not even vote in the election, which Oshiomhole described as a clear contradiction and a sign of questionable loyalty.
Taking the rift even deeper, the senator insisted that Amaechi’s political history is filled with controversies that Nigerians need to pay attention to. He maintained that the former minister’s reputation aligns more with someone who exploited opportunities rather than someone who genuinely served the country.
In his words:
“If you hear his record, he is a smuggler. We don’t know how he got Buhari to sign some papers for him. I remember during a governors’ meeting, he came out proudly to say that Buhari had signed something for him. He took advantage of how little we knew Buhari at the time. But the real issue for me is this: a man who was DG of a presidential campaign but did not even vote in the election.” View, More,
