Political analyst and legal practitioner, Barrister Darlington Agomuo has condemned what he described as continued public advocacy for concessions to armed groups, arguing that such positions undermine national security efforts.

Agomuo made the remarks during an interview on Voice of the People TV from 14:56, where he discussed the country’s persistent security challenges and the role of influential voices in shaping public opinion.

Agomuo expressed concern over past statements made by certain individuals who openly called for negotiations with armed groups. According to him, such advocacy sends the wrong message and risks emboldening those responsible for violence across the country. While discussing the issue, he cited claims made by one of these public figures, stressing that the approach was both dangerous and counterproductive.

He argued that it is troubling for anyone to present themselves as a mediator while simultaneously expressing closeness to groups engaged in violent activities.

Agomuo maintained that the government must adopt a firm, coordinated strategy rooted in intelligence, enforcement, and institutional strengthening, rather than yielding to pressures for appeasement. He noted that past attempts to negotiate without a strong security framework have often resulted in increased attacks and growing boldness among criminal networks. View, More,
