In a recent video, Former minister Solomon Dalung has raised serious concerns about the growing insecurity in the country, warning that criminals are becoming bolder because they allegedly have supporters within the political system. He shared a shocking incident from Katsina State that, according to him, made him extremely worried and showed how dangerous the situation has become.
Dalung explained that a well-known bandit leader in Katsina attacked and killed an Assistant Commissioner of Police in the Dutsinma area. After killing the officer, the bandit took his police uniform. The most disturbing part of the story, according to Dalung, was what happened next.
The bandit leader was later invited to a meeting that was supposed to be a peace negotiation between government representatives and armed groups. Instead of coming secretly, he arrived boldly wearing the uniform of the senior police officer he had killed. Members of the security forces were present at the meeting, including policemen who had previously worked under the slain ACP. Soldiers were also there. Dalung expressed shock that none of them reacted or stopped the situation.
He also described how some politicians who had taken on the role of negotiators welcomed the bandit leader as though nothing was wrong. This, he said, was a clear sign of how deeply insecurity has eaten into the system and why criminals feel confident enough to operate without fear.
In his words, “The one that escalated my BP, and it has not dropped till now, was the one that took place in Kastina where a bandit kingpin killed an ACP in Dutsinma and took his uniform. When they invited him for the so-called peace deal, he came with the uniform of the ACP.” View, More,
